The Liat Chanina Foundation
The Liat Chanina Foundation was created to honor the memory of Liat Paskin, daughter of Rabbi David Paskin and his wife Heather, residents of Sharon, Mass. The Foundation strives to encourage the ongoing work of finding a cure for pediatric brain tumors and other childhood cancers, as well as make a difference in the lives of children and their families facing health challenges and loss. The Foundation creates and promotes resources and opportunities for hope and healing.
In 2002, Ruthann wrote “Daffodil” in memory of Liat and recorded the song with Rabbi David, a singer-songwriter and guitarist who performs in two bands and has produced five albums. The song was recorded and produced by Tom Tincler at TinWolf Studios in 2007. Ruthann and David combined their guitar playing and vocals for ”Daffodil.”
Daffodil
April is ringlets and bows
Springtime is waiting to dance with the sun and unfold
Shine down on earth
All of your seeds are now sown
With our loveHere in the garden is light
All of the flowers are sleeping until they are bright,
Yellow bouquets
Waiting until they can sway
And be freeYou’re my daffodil
Catching the light
Of a sun ray that spilled
Swirling and waving your gold
A beauty to behold
And with every new spring, daffodil,
You’ll be shining your light on us still
Let it shineHere in the garden is hope
Warming the blossoms is light from above and it grows
Faith is not far
Knowing you’ll always be here
In my heartYou’re my daffodil
Catching the light
Of a sun ray that spilled
Swirling and waving your gold
A story to be told
And with every new spring, daffodil,
You’ll be shining your light on us still
Let it shineYou’re my daffodil
Catching the light
Of a sun ray that spilled
Swirling and waving your gold
A beauty to behold
And with every new spring, daffodil,
You’ll be shining your light on us still
Let it shine
